Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! As we know, healthy children make the best learners so it is my goal to work with parents to create a safe and healthy environment for your child while they are at school. This year in Health class, we will go on great adventures as we explore how health looks around the world! Periodically, homework will be assigned and you will find it under the homework tab on my website.

Here are some healthy tips to keep in mind when sending your child to school:

When is my child too sick to come to school?

If your child exhibits any of the following symptoms, they should not be in school:

    •  Temperature of 100 degrees F or greater within the past 24 hours

    • Vomiting or diarrhea occuring within the past 24 hours
    • Contagious infections of any kind--Strep, untreated ringworm, conjunctivitis, or impetigo. They must be treated with medication for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
    • Rash of unknown origin--this should be seen and treated by your child's physician

When your child is well enough to return to school, please send in an absence note which can be found in the virtual backpack or email Mrs. Farrell at [email protected]. In addition, if he/she is absent for 5 consecutive days, a doctor's note must accompany the child clearing them to be able to return to school.

I look forward to getting to know each of you and your children. Please reach out if I can be of any assistance--my office door is always open!
