Well, here we are in the final week of the school year.  It has been a lot of work, but also a

lot of fun.  I encourage all students to finish the year strong and make this the best week of the year!

CKLA:  We have nearly finished our unit on ecology, with a few more lessons left.  Last week we learned the difference between natural changes (erosion and flooding) and human-caused changes (oil spill, deforestation)  to the environment. This week we will discuss things we can do to conserve natural resources and protect our beautiful planet earth.

SAXON MATH:  This week was spent reviewing math skills and applying them to multi-step arithmetic problems.  We worked on filling in charts and using the data to answer math questions.  One new math skills we practiced in order of operations, using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

The students have been working for the last 3 weeks on researching one of the 13 colonies and creating a travel brochure, and this week each student will be recording a commercial to advertise the colony.

LAST DAY Thursday, May 18:  We will be leaving right away at 8:30 to walk to the light rail and get to Pioneer Park.  We should be arriving back at school by 1:30; parents may pick up students starting at 2:00 (just sign your child out in the office, so we know they are going home).  Please review the information in the parent email and letter sent home last week.
