I am so excited to be your art teacher at Canfield Ave this year!  I am hoping you will have a lot of fun learning and creating new things in my class.  My biggest wish is that you will come to class and leave class each day with a passion to try new things.  Making art helps you feel better when you are frustrated, is a great way to make friends and try new things, and is awesome if you just want to have fun and make a difference for others!  We will be learning about the Elements and Principles of Art, and working with all sorts of supplies--including things that can be a bit messy--so we will be wearing smocks just in case we are using supplies that will SPLATTER (and some paints are permanent)!

GRADES: Everyone will be graded each week on class participation (10 points weekly).  You will also be graded on completed projects based on a rubric of 5 categories (project completion, following directions, concept, creativity, and craftsmanship).  Project grades will be worth more points than weekly participation/behavior grades.  You can see the rubric by clicking HERE.  Keep in mind that some projects will have a heavier weight than others depending on the length of time they take.

I am always willing to help anyone struggling in my class.  I do not expect perfection in art, but I do expect you to try your best!  Please do not be afraid to ask me for help.  You can also come during lunch certain days for help on a project outside of class if you are falling behind or struggling, just ask!  I am willing to give up that time for you.

UPDATES: I would love to keep your parents and guardians up to date in what we are doing in class.  I will be doing that through artsonia.com.  Permission slips for new students to join Artsonia will be going out this fall.  Check out the link on the left to see CAS's Artsonia page.  It's pretty much just like an online portfolio of all your projects.  Each time I publish your art on the website, your parents and friends will see what you have created and be able to read about it.  Parents and friends, through Artsonia, you can purchase your child's artwork on T-shirts, mugs, quilts, ornaments, cutting boards, and more!  20% of the funds go toward new art supplies for the school.

Below are a few images of my own artwork.  If you want to know more about me and see more of my own artwork, please visit my website at https://cwisbauer.wixsite.com/info

See you in class!
