The Spring Concert will take place on

Wednesday, May 20th

6:30pm

Hurden Looker Playground

(rain site - Hurden Looker Auditorium/Gymnasium)

 

A reminder letter and CD order form will be out in May! 

 

HURDEN LOOKER

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

 

The Instrumental Music Program at

Hurden Looker includes Band and Strings.

Students may choose from

Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet,

Trombone, Baritone Horn, Percussion Kit,

Violin, Viola and Cello.

Instruction is done in small groups for 1 40-minute period per week and it rotates throughout the day so that students do not miss the same academic instructional period each week!

Students should practice 15-20 minutes each day in order to ensure growth and progress on the instrument.

 

 

GENERAL MUSIC

  

General Music is a class Special where students will dance and sing and have a ton of fun learning about music, performance, appreciation and listening skills!

Students will learn the skills of note reading, rhythm, volume, tempo, instruments of the orchestra, musical theatre, music history and dance!

 

 

 

ABOUT MS. VALIANTE

 

Ms. Valiante began teaching in Hillside in 2000. She is excited to share her all of her musical knowledge as the 4th Band and String Director, Chorus Co-Director and General Music Teacher at Hurden Looker Elementary School. She is pleased to begin the 20th year of her "tour of Hillside" having also taught at Hillside High School, W.O.K. Middle School, Calvin Coolidge Elementary School and the A.P. Morris Early Childhood Center...isn't that cool...she has taught every grade from Kindergarten through 12th Grade...at every school in Hillside!

Ms. Valiante holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education/Voice from Kean University, a Master in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College and a Master of Science in Educational Administration from the University of Scranton.
