About Me and My Classes
Welcome students and parents to the new academic year 2023-2024. I am sure we will have a very interesting and productive school year.
My name is Leshma Srivastava and I am a member of the History Department. This is my sixteenth year at the Hillside High School.
I received a Masters degree in History from the University of Delhi, India and taught History at the undergraduate level for many years. Since then, I have been teaching World History and US-I History at the Hillside High School.
Fun Fact - I love reading and even when I'm reading, my favorite books are historical fiction. If you ever read a historical fiction novel, feel free to tell me about it!
Afterschool help ( when in the building): I am available for help afterhours at room 214 .Students need to inform me if they require help specially before tests/quizzes. I can be reached via email as well.
Office Hours upon request Tuesdays and Thursdays- 3-3:30 pm at room 214.
Courses Taught this year- World History-CP and Honors and US-1 History
Classes will include a number of interesting activities including current events, special projects and DBQ's. Additionally this year there will be a special emphasis on Geography.
The World History course starts from the Renaissance period in the 1400's and goes on upto the current time.
The US-1 History starts from the 1500's and goes on till the early 1900's.
Grading Policy: Tests and Projects-50%
Quizzes- 25%
Homework- 15%
Class Participation- 10%
There will a Final Exams at the end of the year and its grade will be factored in the overall course grade.
