Ms. Gill - Language Arts
Welcome to Room #37!
Hello, 5th graders and families! I am so excited to have you here to learn and grow together. This year is going to be filled with adventures, and I can't wait to dive in with you all!
In Room 37, we utilize the SAVVAS curriculum, and we'll be working in our MyView workbooks daily in class. You can also access these resources online through Clever. In addition, we'll be using i-Ready for 10 minutes each day to help strengthen any areas that need improvement. Be sure to always have an independent reading book ready, as reading is a key part of our learning!
We will be exploring a new novel each trimester:
- First Trimester: Bud, Not Buddy
- Second Trimester: Esperanza Rising
- Third Trimester: The Thing About Georgie
In writing, we'll be focusing on three key forms: Literary Analysis, Narrative, and Opinion writing. Each marking period will end with a cumulative essay where you get to show off your writing skills!
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out via email at [email protected]. I am here to support you every step of the way.
Now let's go make the fifth-grade shimmer! ✨
