A new school year is upon us, and I would like to welcome you and your child to eighth grade math. My name is Mr. Bockman and I will be your child’s math teacher. First, let me share my academic background and some of my other personal attributes with you.
I am 38 years old and this is my 15th year teaching here at Delsea Middle School teaching mathematics. I have tutored mathematics for 3 years at the high school level and did my student teaching at the 4th grade level. I achieved a dual major Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Education at RowanUniversity.
Your child’s education and evolvement is my top priority. As I mention on the first day of school, every child in my class has the ability to earn an “A.” My mission as a teacher is to develop a work ethic in my students to help them reach their full potential. Most importantly, I want to generate a sense of pride in your child’s achievement. I hold high expectations for both the students and myself; I will push students to perform to their highest ability both academically and socially.
Every day, we will work toward answering the common question associated with math, “Why do we need to know this?” I will show the connection between the skills I teach in class and the real world. In addition, every day we will be preparing for the State Test.
