Notes from Ms. Zawisza

Dear families,

WOW! I can hardly believe another holiday is already upon us! Happy Valentine’s Day (in advance) to all of you. I am so excited to celebrate this Friday with the kiddos!

Homework: Practice Sight words, Read AR and your child should INDEPENDENTLY be reading the ReadWell daily passage to you. Reminder these are designed to be read one per day. The ReadWell packet in your child’s folder this week will be utilized for both this week and next week, since both are short weeks with many exciting events going on we will be stretching the unit over the course of two weeks. Chapter 6 math packet: this optional packet reviews what we cover in class.  It will be due on Friday, February 21st.

Last week a note about our Valentine’s celebration went home! The kiddos are always so excited to celebrate friendship, share cards and of course have some yummy snacks on Valentine’s Day. Your child should come home with all of their Valentine’s unopened on Friday and ready to go through with you! This is always such a great conversation starter.

Have a wonderful week!  -Ms. Zawisza

Friendly reminders:

**Please make sure you are taking everything out of your child's backpack nightly. The papers we have completed in class can stay home and be used as review. Thank you for being so good about putting transportation changes in the planner.

**Remember to check and sign your child's planner every night. This is where to put all important information. Inside your child’s school binder on Monday will be a Homework folder with this weeks homework in it. Each day your child will be expected to bring their School Binder to school. Inside the binder you will find a planner (this is the best way to communicate any questions or concerns to me), the homework folder and important information, so please take a minute to look it over and let me know if you have any questions.

**Homework will be sent home on Monday. The packet is due back on Friday. Please remember homework is a review of what we have done in class that day. Therefore, it should be quick and easy, however, if you work ahead you may notice your child has more difficulty. If your child is having a hard time with homework that is from the same lesson as that day, please let me know so I can review the skill in class with them.

**Please be sure you are practicing sight words every night. I will send home index cards at the beginning of each week. These cards are a great way to practice with your child. Please be sure you are practicing new words as well as reviewing previous words.

Writing in response to a text when being asked specific questions. Independently sounding out and writing words.
